Ineffable Meraki On Fire

I remember the lush green lands where I grew. Surrounded by slopes on all sides, lived a small community in a small village. Every morning the sun basked from behind the peaks and showered the homes with its glitter. Every night the stars glistened like diamonds in the black sky. The vast blue expanse of the heavens above and so many colourful birds visiting us every year. The waterfall nearby and the soothing river.

It was certainly one hell of a party. Drinks and food all around. Music blaring at the top volume and people dancing like there is no tomorrow.
Things hadn’t been so easy lately. We were together at the dinner table. But did we render a look to each other, the food would choke our throats. It was an awkward silence. There was laughter and claps, but somehow it was all so quiet. I would steal a few glances at him. He was smiling, but did not seem happy or so I thought.
After another tiresome day, I was in my bath, warm and relaxing. All my days have now become strangely exhausting. I was only thinking about having some wine along with my dinner when I felt the water got warmer and pink. Or was it red? Or perhaps it wasn’t water at all.
An uncanny event occurred a couple of days back. I was on my way back home from my hostel. As was the norm, I took the Metro.
Some said she was a dreamer; some said she lived life to the fullest; some called her quiet; some a delight!
